"Jennifer and Brady have coached me about my health, healing and weight loss, primarily in regards to the benefits of a low carbohydrate diet and Intermittent Fasting after I inquired about it. Since starting this way of eating, my health has been dramatically improved. Even after the first few days, I noticed changes. "On June 15th I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. I was 265 lbs, and my A1C was 8.2 which put me solid in the “diabetes” range. Needless to say, I was in shock and terrified of the complications that come with diabetes. My doctor put me on Metformin and said “doctors cannot cure your diabetes, you must do it yourself through diet and lifestyle changes.” I immediately called Catherine, whom I knew was a diabetes educator and was knowledgeable about reversing diabetes. She came over to see me and gave me the great news that I could manage and reverse this. Of course I didn’t believe her at first, but I was willing to do anything to get better. I inquired about the Ketogenic diet and she explained it could help support healthy blood sugar levels. After my initial assessment, I started it the next day. I went back to the doctor in 6 weeks and had lost 20 lbs. I had also been monitoring my blood sugar which, after a week, had gone from 353 to under 100 and were within the normal range. After 8 weeks, I had lost 30 lbs and over 5 inches from my waist, AND my A1C was down to 5.0 which is in the “Optimal” range. Better than “Normal”! My diabetes is now in remission! I feel like I’ve been given a new lease on life. I feel great, have lost weight, and have more energy. I am in control of my own health and am loving it. "I was told in January of 2018 that I had pre-diabetes. I was scared and I didn’t know what to do. I began attending workshops taught by Catherine, Jennifer and the dietitian and with their guidance, I was able to reverse the condition and prevent the onset of diabetes! They coached me and I learned that many of foods I was eating (that I thought were healthy) were actually causing me to have high blood sugar and elevated insulin levels, which would eventually lead to diabetes. After meeting with them and applying what I learned in wellness classes, I not only reversed my pre-diabetes, I lost over 20 pounds, drastically improved my other biometric markers and regained my health and energy. "In 2016, I found out I had pre-diabetes. It was time to get serious about my health and reverse this condition, especially since I had twins on the way. Catherine, Jennifer and the Registered Dietitian have been the greatest resources in my journey. They bring a wealth of knowledge regarding diabetes education and how to manage it. "Since I have been working with all the great people at the Wellness Center and they have been gems to me. I have gained so much knowledge from Jennifer and Catherine, including diabetic health sessions, coaching, and Whole30 group sessions as well as other group-based health promotion and diabetes education classes.
