Since moving to Charleston back in 2019, we have been constantly grateful for the James Kennedy Wellness Center that has provided such a wonderful facility and environment for diligent physical exercise which has contributed positively to our health and attitudes. The space is always clean and well-lit, and the equipment well-maintained. It is not just a healthy place, but also a happy place with super friendly and encouraging staff and programs. “Three years ago I decided to invest in my health, so I met with Catherine Moring and at her direction I started an exercise program at the Wellness Center. With the help of their excellent staff I have maintained a 90 minute 5 day a week program. We are very fortunate to have such a nice facility with a great staff. “My journey actually started two years ago before I even knew about the James C. Kennedy Wellness Center. In 2018, I lost my husband after a stroke and severe diabetes, and, I did not know how to stop the mental torture of bitterness, frustration, and abandonment. I was so angry and so afraid, about having to begin a new life at 61, and then I questioned where God was in all this. But I had to learn how to let go of the pain and everyone kept telling me that it was alright and that I was not evil even though I was just so angry and bitter. The kindness that was given there helped me to decide to accept the loss of my husband and to face my fears, but I could never have done this without the grace of a God and the love given to me by the gym members, the Wellness Center staff, and mainly Stephanie. With the enthusiasm shown to me there and everyone’s embracing love, I began to heal spiritually, emotionally, and mentally. Physical exercise was one of the ways that God used to free me of the pain that played throughout my mind continuously.” ~ Anne Walker

Missy is a dedicated member and participates in many of our health and wellness programs. She exercises daily. Missy considers herself very active and has been exercising on her own at home for years. She started with the Wellness Center several years ago and enjoys her time there. "That is time for myself away from everyday life and stress," she says. Thank you Missy for being such a wonderful member! Congratulations!!!
